Garden Of Gods: Incredible Park in Colorado For Hiking, Biking, Camping, and Horseback Trails...
Garden of Gods, Near Colorado Springs
Colorado is one of my favorite states in the continental
U.S., and one of the reasons is the many majestic snow capped mountains here to
attract outdoors sports and adventure of all kinds! Whether you come and visit in the summer,
spring, fall, or winter, you are sure to find something active to do that will
fit you just right. Snow skiing in the
wintertime is popular at some of the best ski resorts in the United States, or
in the summer there are many great hiking, biking, and horseback trails to
explore in addition to the many surrounding peaks to climb, and a very interesting area is the Garden of Gods...
The Colorado Springs area is just south of Denver, and is a very beautiful area of the state to visit for outdoors enthusiasts. Colorado Springs is the home of the U.S. Air Force Academy, and also has many great attractions. One of the most interesting rock formations anywhere in the world is located in the Garden of the Gods, or Garden of Gods. This park is very popular and has many different facilities available surrounding it, including horseback riding, biking, hiking, rock climbing, and picnic areas. You can take a drive through the incredible red rocks in the park, and stop to take many exciting pictures.
Pikes Peak Close By to the Garden of Gods...
It’s a great place to learn how to ride a horse and enjoy some great scenery with beautiful snow capped mountains surrounding you, and you may even catch a glimpse at the famous Pikes Peak, which rises more than 14,000 feet above sea level. There’s nothing better than to ride a horse in this area among the rocky trail with the others in your group, as the knowledgeable guide leads you through the wilderness. Even if you’re an old hand with horses, you’ll be sure to love this adventure!
Campers will really love this Garden of Gods Park, as they can set up camp at the designated campground and enjoy the wild as it was meant to be… Who knows what varieties of critters you’ll see when you stay overnight, because most of them come out at night for feeding and they will probably be creeping around outside you tent while you are pretending to be asleep! If you’ve not yet been able to camp out west of the Mississippi, then this is a great place to do so. The drier air in this area is quite nice, and as we all know a dry tent and sleeping bag makes for a happy camper!
Rock Climbing Near to the Garden of Gods...
If you’re really up for some adventure, register for one of the rock climbing schools in the area and learn something about how to climb those huge rock faces! I believe the Garden of Gods Park has some suggestions for schools to try. This is a highly technical skill that you need to learn with an authorized and knowledgeable school, so don’t just buy some equipment and try this on your own… You may not like the consequences!
Try a little quiet time to yourself also, and get out on the hiking trail for some solitude. There aren’t many places that you can experience a little peace and quiet, but out there in the red rocks you can slow down your pace and take a breather for once. Be sure to bring plenty of water and a few snacks for your hike, because you can lose a lot of water through sweat fairly quickly, and you’ll need to replenish. It’s always good to plan for the worst case scenario, even for a short hike. Out west, near the Garden of Gods, things can be a little different and conditions can change rapidly… You also may want to hike with a good solid stick, because you never know when you may get a mountain lion a little interested. So make sure and bring a good cell phone too!
Anyway, there is plenty of fun to be had in the Garden of Gods Park near Colorado Springs, so I hope you all get a chance to go out there and visit for a spell… You’re sure to find something that suits you, whether you’re a hard core rock climber or mountain biker, or maybe just like to relax and spend some alone time. Either way, have fun!
